# Build a dashboard or board report

> Have Ari build a Page of the numbers you review every month, such as a KPI dashboard with burn and cash runway or a board report, from scratch or from Canvas block templates, and choose between tables and charts.

Ask Ari for a Page that shows the numbers you review every month, such as a KPI dashboard with burn, cash, and cash runway, or a board report with a summary, a P\&L, and charts. Ari builds the Page from Canvas blocks and Table blocks, which read your Model so the numbers stay current as your data changes, and from Text blocks for a summary or notes.

A dashboard shows numbers from your Model. If a number is not in your Model yet, such as a cash forecast, Ari builds the missing Variables as it goes and labels each assumption it makes. You can also start with [Forecast cash and cash runway](/guides/forecast-cash.md).

**Ask Ari**

Describe what the Page should show and who will read it:

> Build a KPI dashboard Page with monthly burn, cash balance, and months of cash runway, and a chart of cash over the next 12 months.

> Prepare a board-reporting Page with revenue, gross margin, cash, headcount, and the largest changes since last quarter.

Ari adds the Page to the sidebar's **Model** section and links it in its answer. The Page is built in the Scenario your chat is in.

To put the work somewhere specific, say so: "Add these charts to the Board Page" or "Make it a subpage of Board."

**Start from a template**

**1. Open the Canvas block library**

In the chat's message box, select the palette icon, **Browse Canvas block library**. The **Browse templates and components** window opens.

**2. Pick templates**

On the **Templates** tab, select one or more templates, such as **KPI scorecard**, **Cash balance**, **Budget variance table**, or **Executive summary**. The **Components** tab holds single parts, such as a KPI card, a chart, or a slider. Use **Search controls, charts, layouts…** to find one.

**3. Add them to your message**

Select **Add**, which shows how many you picked, such as **Add (2)**. Each template joins your message as a chip.

**4. Tell Ari what to build**

Type what you want built from them and where, and send:

> Build these on a new Page called Monthly dashboard, using our cash and burn.

Ari follows each template's recipe with your Model's data. Your words decide whether it builds one block per template or one combined Page.

A blank Canvas block on a Page offers the same library through **Browse library**, and the Help center's **Start from a Canvas template** walks you through it.

## Choose tables or charts

Ask for a Table block when readers need exact numbers, such as a P\&L, or will type in assumptions. Ask for a chart or scorecard when a trend, a mix, or one headline number matters more. A board report usually has both; see [Choosing a block](/concepts/pages-and-blocks.md#choosing-a-block).
