# Use cases

> Choose a cfo.ai workflow for forecasting, Scenario analysis, variance review, anomaly analysis, and financial reporting.

Start with the business question you need to answer. cfo.ai can connect the underlying data, calculate the result in a Model, and help you explain what changed.

## Forecasting

Project revenue, expenses, headcount, or cash into future periods using historical data and explicit assumptions.

Use forecasting when you are building a budget, deciding when to hire, or estimating how long your cash will last.

## Scenario analysis

Create alternative Scenarios and compare their effects without rebuilding the underlying Model.

Use Scenario analysis before a decision such as changing a hiring plan, reducing a budget, or testing a different growth assumption.

## Budget vs. actuals

Compare actual results with a budget or plan, quantify the differences, and focus your review on the largest movements.

Use budget vs. actuals during month-end or quarter-end review to understand where performance diverged from the plan and what needs to be reforecast.

## Anomaly analysis

Review source data and Variables for a material change that falls outside their recent or seasonal pattern.

Use anomaly analysis when spending changes unexpectedly, a result looks unusual, or you want a focused check of recent activity.

## Connected financial reporting

Bring accounting, spreadsheet, and operational data into a shared Model, then organize the result into Tables, Charts, and written context.

Use connected reporting for recurring management, board, or investor preparation when the numbers and their explanation need to stay aligned.
