Once an HR system like Rippling is connected, ask Ari to build a Headcount page: a dashboard with an employee-detail table and a department-summary table, backed by payroll formulas Ari creates for you.

What Ari needs

Ari resolves the integration’s fields to the Variables and Dimensions it needs. At minimum:
  • Employee name — the row axis for the employee-detail table.
  • Department — the row axis for the department-summary table, and the segment payroll formulas split by.
  • Pay rate — assumed annual unless you also give a pay period.
  • Start date and termination date — required so the active-employee payroll formula knows who’s currently employed.
Optionally, Ari can also bring in job title, employment type, employment status, pay period, pay currency, work location, and country.

Pay period handling

If pay rates aren’t all annual, give Ari a pay period mapping, like Annual to 12 months, Monthly to 1, and Weekly to about 0.23. Ari creates a Pay Period Months Variable from that mapping and uses it to derive each employee’s per-period cost correctly, instead of assuming everyone is paid annually.

Before you start

Ari needs your workspace’s Last close date set before it can build the active-employee payroll formula. See Actuals, Forecast, and formula ranges. If Last close is not set, Ari can explain the required workspace setting.

What you get

Ask Ari to name the new Page, or accept the “Headcount” default. Ari creates any calculated Variables and formulas it needs, then adds:
  • An employee-detail table, one row per employee.
  • A department-summary table, rolling headcount and payroll cost up by department.
From there, treat the Headcount page like any other: ask Ari to add comparisons, reformat it, or build a Scenario to model a hiring plan against it.
