Attach files to an Ari chat message when you want to discuss a screenshot, an Excel workbook, a PDF report, a CSV export, or another document that is not already available in your Model. A normal chat attachment gives Ari access to the file in that conversation. A CSV can also be imported as a Model data source when you choose that option.

What you can attach

You can attach up to five files per message. Use the attachment control in the chat input, select your files, and wait for their uploads to complete before sending the message.

How Ari reads each type

  • Images and PDFs are made available directly for Ari to inspect.
  • Text files and CSVs can be included as readable conversation context. Large text content may be shortened before it is included.
  • Excel workbooks and other binary files are opened through Ari’s secure workspace, where Ari can inspect workbook sheets, formulas, cached values, and other file contents.
If a workbook is large, tell Ari which sheet, date range, or business question matters most.

Choose how a CSV should be used

A CSV attachment can serve one of two purposes:
  • Data source imports the file so its rows can become available to your Model.
  • Chat only lets Ari discuss or analyze the file without creating a data connection.
Importing a CSV can continue in the background. Ask Ari to confirm that the load has completed before treating the rows as available Model data.

Good to know

  • Ari can look up files shared earlier in the same conversation.
  • Attachments do not automatically move into a different conversation. Attach the file again if you start a new chat.
  • A damaged, encrypted, or otherwise unreadable file may require a different export or an unprotected copy.
