This page answers common questions about your data in cfo.ai, such as whether cfo.ai trains AI on it, who can see it, and how to get it deleted. The answers point to cfo.ai’s legal documents, which are published on its website; where a document and this page differ, the document wins. For a security questionnaire, a Data Processing Agreement, or a contract, write to legal@cfo.ai. When you start a plan in cfo.ai, you agree to the Standard Terms and Conditions and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. The Standard Terms and Conditions, together with your order, form your agreement with cfo.ai.

Does cfo.ai train AI on my data?

Under the Standard Terms and Conditions, you own your data (section 3.4). You give cfo.ai a license to use it to provide the service to you, including to train AI models specific to your company. cfo.ai may also compile aggregated, anonymized statistics from your use of the service, including what it learns from those company-specific models (sections 1 and 2.5). Those statistics must not identify you or your confidential information. Ari runs on AI models from outside providers, listed under AI services on the Subprocessors page. For the terms that apply to those providers, write to legal@cfo.ai.

Who can see my data?

  • Everyone in your workspace is an administrator and can see every Page, the Model, connections, and settings. Each person’s chats with Ari are visible only to that person. See Sharing and access.
  • Someone you send a share link to sees only the Pages the link names, read-only. See Share a Page outside your workspace.
  • The Standard Terms and Conditions include confidentiality obligations (section 5), and the Privacy Policy says cfo.ai trains its employees on privacy and security (section 6). For who at cfo.ai can access your workspace and how that access is controlled, write to legal@cfo.ai.
  • The service providers that process customer data for cfo.ai, such as hosting, data integration, and AI model providers, are listed on the Subprocessors page with what each one does.

Where is my data stored?

The Privacy Policy (section 9) says cfo.ai is based in the United States, and that personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where cfo.ai and its service providers operate. Transfers from the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, with the UK Addendum where it applies. The Subprocessors page gives each provider’s country. For anything more specific, write to legal@cfo.ai.

Security and certifications

  • The Privacy Policy (section 6) says cfo.ai uses industry-standard security technologies and procedures, and that cfo.ai reports a personal data breach to the relevant authority within 72 hours where feasible, and tells you without undue delay when a breach is likely to put you at high risk.
  • The Standard Terms and Conditions (section 5.4) say cfo.ai keeps internal policies on privacy, data security, business continuity, and disaster recovery, and that copies of its certifications and policies are available on request.
To ask whether cfo.ai holds a certification such as SOC 2, for copies of its security policies, or to send a security questionnaire, write to legal@cfo.ai.

Contracts and Data Processing Agreements

The Standard Terms and Conditions for Orders, with your order, are your agreement with cfo.ai. The Subprocessors page also refers to a Data Processing Agreement. To get one, or to ask for a signed or negotiated contract, write to legal@cfo.ai.

Is it safe to upload salaries or other sensitive data?

What you upload is your data under the Standard Terms and Conditions, covered by the confidentiality and security terms above. Before you upload pay for each person, think about who will see it:
  • Every member of your workspace can see every Page and table. cfo.ai cannot hide one table from a teammate.
  • Anyone with a share link sees what the shared Pages show.
If some people should not see individual pay, keep them out of the workspace and send them a share link to a summary Page, or bring in pay totals by department instead of by person.

Deleting your account or data

cfo.ai has no button for deleting a workspace or an account. To ask for deletion, write to legal@cfo.ai from the address you sign in with and name the workspace; the Terms of Use name this address for closing and deleting an account (section 4.1). For a request about your personal information, you can also use the data request form on Privacy choices. See Cancel your subscription or delete your data. What the documents say about timing:
  • The Privacy Policy (section 7) says that when you cancel your account or ask cfo.ai to delete your information, cfo.ai limits its access to what it needs to do what you asked, and deletes the information it can access within 30 days. Section 10 says some information may be kept where the law requires it.
  • The Standard Terms and Conditions (section 8.3) say that, once your agreement ends, cfo.ai keeps your data for 15 days if you paid for your first term, and may delete it after that. Within those 15 days you can ask for paid help moving your data to yourself or another provider (section 8.4).
Before you leave, you can download your Pages as spreadsheets; see Download a Page as a spreadsheet.
