Ari can help you understand, review, and change formulas in cfo.ai. Describe the business rule in plain language instead of writing the full expression yourself.

What Ari can do

Ari can:
  • Find and explain formulas on a Variable
  • Check how a formula changes across segments or formula ranges.
  • Answer questions from existing saved Model data.
  • Validate a supported proposed change without applying it.
  • Validate formula syntax and references
  • Create or update formulas
  • Apply a formula to a table, Dimension, segment, Actuals, or Forecast.
  • Read calculated values after a change

Decide whether to save

Tell Ari whether you are exploring or changing the model. For analysis based on saved information:
Explain the existing contribution margin by Department without changing the Model.
For a persistent change:
Add Gross Profit to the operating plan and calculate it as Revenue minus Cost of Goods Sold in Main.
If you do not want a write, say so directly. Ari can inspect existing values or validate a supported draft without changing the Model. A new calculated series requires a saved, visible Model row.

Give Ari useful context

Include these details when they matter:
  • The target Variable
  • The business calculation
  • The table or page
  • The Dimension or segment.
  • Actuals, Forecast, or all periods
  • The Scenario to use.
You do not need to provide Variable IDs or formula conditions. Ari resolves those from the model.

Review the result

After a change, ask Ari to check the visible values, the formula’s scope, and the Scenario where the result was saved.
