Use this when a chat shows Needs your response, or Ari stops and shows a card. Ari waits for you before details that change the answer, before a large build, before calls to connected services that need approval, and before emailing anyone but you. Answer in the chat, and Ari continues on its own.

Answer a question form

1

Pick or type each answer

Choose an option, or press its letter. To answer in your own words, choose Other… and type. If a question takes files, select Attach files to your answer.
2

Skip what you do not want to answer

Select Dismiss beside a question to skip it. Ari continues without it. Undo brings it back before you send.
3

Send your answers

Select Next to move through the questions, then Submit answers (Submit on a one-question form).
If you scrolled up when the form arrived, select Scroll to latest messages to reach it. To skip every open question at once, select Dismiss at the bottom of the form; the answers you already picked are still sent. See Chat controls and messages for every control.

Approve a plan

For a larger build, Ari shows a plan card before it starts: what it will create and the assumptions it will use.
1

Check the assumptions

Each assumption shows Ari’s suggested choices. Pick another, or choose Other and type your own value. If the card says Answer above to continue, an assumption Ari needs has no answer yet.
2

Approve or ask for changes

Select Build it to start. To change something the choices cannot express, such as which Pages to build, select Make changes and describe it in the message box.
Your approval appears in the chat as Build it — with these selected assumptions: followed by the assumptions you changed, so the record of what you approved stays in the conversation.

Allow or decline a call to a connected service

When Ari wants to use an MCP server or API you connected, and the call needs approval, Ari pauses and shows Ari is asking to run “[tool]” on [service].
  • Select Allow to run this one call.
  • Select Always allow to let Ari use this tool on this service without asking again, for the whole workspace. Only people who can manage workspace settings see it.
  • Select Decline to skip the call. Ari continues without it.
Anyone in the chat can allow or decline one call. After you choose, Ari usually continues without another message from you. If it stays paused, for example because a notice says the approval saved but Ari was not prompted to continue, send any message and Ari picks up from there. If the card can no longer be acted on, for example because a teammate already answered it, a notice says why. See Chat controls and messages. To change which tools ask first, see Give Ari access to another service.

Finish a form from an MCP server

Some MCP servers send their own form, such as a form to create an issue, filled with what Ari proposed. It appears in the chat under View from [server]: [tool]. Check the fields and finish it there, for example by selecting its Create issue button. If the form asks to run another call, approve it on the card that appears under the form. If it asks to open a page, check the address and select Open link or Cancel. These forms appear only in chats in the cfo.ai web app.

Review an email before it is sent

Ari emails you at your sign-in address as soon as you ask. An email to anyone else waits for you on a Preview card.
1

Read the draft

Check the recipients, the subject, and the message.
2

Change it if needed

Select Edit. Type addresses separated by commas or Enter; each becomes a removable chip. Select Preview email to see your changes.
3

Send it

Select Send. Nothing leaves cfo.ai until you do.
Scheduled Triggers work the same way, so a run that would email someone else stops at the preview in its chat.

Answer questions from a scheduled run

A scheduled Trigger runs without you, so it cannot wait for an answer. Questions it asks stay in its chat, which shows Needs your response. When you open the chat, questions the run asked at different points appear together on one form, and one reply answers them all. In a scheduled run, an MCP tool set to Ask first does not run, and an API call that needs approval is held in the run’s chat, where nobody answers it; see What a run cannot do on its own.

Confirm a Scenario merge, delete, or revert

If you asked Ari to let you confirm before it merges, deletes, or reverts a Scenario, it shows a card with a button you press yourself; see Scenario confirmation card. See also Merge a Scenario into Main and Undo a change or restore an earlier version.
