Create another workspace to keep a separate business apart, such as a second venture, or one company per client if you are a fractional CFO or an advisor. Each workspace is separate: it has its own Model, Pages, connections, chats, Triggers, team, and plan. Your Skills are yours and go with you to every workspace where you are a member, unless you limit a Skill to one workspace; see Save a workflow as a Skill. To report several legal entities of one business together, such as a US company and its UK subsidiary, keep them in one workspace instead; see Model several entities and consolidate them.

Create a workspace

1

Open the account menu

Select your name or picture at the bottom of the sidebar.
2

Choose Create workspace

Under Workspaces, select Create workspace.
3

Name it

Type the Workspace name and press Enter, or select Create followed by the name.
Before the new workspace opens, cfo.ai asks you to choose a plan for it. Each new workspace can start its own free trial; see Start a trial or choose a plan. The workspace then opens on its own Welcome chat, the same start a new account gets. Ari cannot create a workspace for you.

Switch between workspaces

Open the account menu. Workspaces lists every workspace you belong to, with a check beside the one that is open. Select another to open it. You can also press ⌘ K (Ctrl K on Windows and Linux), type part of the workspace’s name, and choose it under Workspaces in the search results. Workspaces have no folders or groups; the account menu lists all of them by name. Give each one a name you can tell apart at a glance.

Rename a workspace

Open Settings, select General, type the new Name under Workspace, and select Save. You can also ask Ari to rename it. Renaming changes the workspace’s web address. Bookmarks and links to its Pages and chats that use the old address stop working; share links keep working.

How many workspaces a plan covers

Each workspace has its own plan and its own bill, and creating a workspace does not change the plan of the ones you have. In the plan chooser, the Starter plan card lists 1 dedicated workspace, and the Enterprise card lists Multiple workspaces. To ask about Enterprise, select Talk to sales on its card. See Plans and billing.

Set up one workspace per client

If you advise several companies, give each client a workspace of its own, so their books, Models, and people never mix:
  1. Create a workspace and name it after the client.
  2. Choose a plan for it. Each workspace is billed on its own, to the payment method added in that workspace.
  3. Bring in the client’s books: connect their accounting system, or invite the person who holds admin access to their books and ask them to connect it.
  4. Save the workflows you repeat for every client, such as your monthly close review, as a Skill once. Your Skills are yours, so Ari follows them in every workspace where you are a member, and the client’s team does not get them. Limit a Skill to one client’s workspace when it is built on that client’s own accounts, systems, people, or figures. Triggers belong to one workspace. See Save a workflow as a Skill.
  5. Decide how the client sees your work:
  6. To show your firm’s or the client’s look on the Pages you share, brand the workspace. A brand you set up once can be copied to your other workspaces.
